Nicaragua Solidarity Committee began holding annual Valentine's Day Salsa dances in cooperation with Casa Nicaragua in 1991. A Halloween dance was added to the yearly schedule in 1998.

The Committee currently has a Labor Rights Task Force that works to oppose sweatshop working conditions in Nicaragua and around the world. In addition to supporting Nicaraguan textile workers that have been fired for supporting their union, the LRTF played a role in initiating former soccer coach Jim Keady's one-month stay in Indonesia while trying to survive on a Nike worker's salary. Keady had been fired from his coaching position at St. John's University for refusing to wear Nike gear. (More informaiton is available at www.nikewages.org.)

NSC has a nacent Environmental Task Force that is looking into the possibility of working with a Nicaraguan solar technology group, Grupo Fenix.
