Chicago BlueWays: The Campaign for Bicycle Boulevards

Announcing the kickoff meeting for Chicago BlueWays, a grassroots campaign calling on the city to establish a network of Bicycle Boulevards where those who choose non-motorized, non-polluting modes have priority over automobiles.
The meeting will be Monday, April 2 at the Pulaski Park Fieldhouse, 1419 W. Blackhawk St. (at Noble), Room 207, at 7PM. There will be a presentation on Bicycle Boulevards in other cities and a Campaign brainstorming session. The Campaign is in response to the ever-increasing congestion, pollution, and danger that automobiles inflict on cyclists and others who choose not to drive.

A BlueWay an improvement over on-street bike lanes. It is an entire city street which has been modified to enhance bicycle safety and convenience. Non-local motor vehicle traffic is discouraged and the BlueWay has the right-of-way at intersections wherever possible.
