At the heart of the Zapatista movement for indigenous self-determination has been the effort to establish autonomous village communities free from the control of the state and the landlords. Mexico's National Indigenous Congress recently passed a resolution expressing its intent to support a massive effort to organize rural communities on this model throughout the southern states of the country. Jason Wallach of the Chiapas Media Project will discuss this development in
the context of the ongoing mass creative struggles of the indigenous peoples of Mexico.
