After some singing of songs like John Lennon's "Give Peace a Chance", the crowd marched from the Cathedral to the State Capitol Building just under a mile away. There were so many people! There hasn't been a protest this large in Minnesota for some time now. Last year in April there was a rally and march against the Free Trade of the Americas that around 3,000 people (including Senator Paul Wellstone) participated in, but this event dwarfed that by at least three times, and the diversity of people participating was amazing.

Candles and flowers were setup at the steps of the Capitol Building with a picture of Paul and his wife Sheila. Wellstone's last vote in the Senate before he was killed was a vote against authorizing "President" Bush to make war with Iraq. Thousands of people came together today and they like Wellstone told Bush and lawmakers that we don't want another war in Iraq, we'd rather have money spent on bettering healthcare and education and other domestic priorities.
