On October 12 1996 The Coordinadora 96-2000 drew over 100,000 participants from across the nation defending immigrant rights in the U.S. This March on October 14 will focus on seven key points that address equal rights.

The seven points are:
- Unconditional Amnesty for undocumented workers.
- Human and Constitutional rights for all
- Civil Rights and equal opportunities for all
- Affordable education from pre-school to College
- Affordable an Accessible health insurance
- New labor law and living wages
- Stop Police and INS profiling of Latino immigrants and the actions of paramilitary groups against Mexicans and Latino immigrants

In Chicago over 10,000 supporters of Unconditional amnesty participated in the larger demonstration of immigrants of recent times. The City Council approved a resolution to support the call for unconditional amnesty; also Congressman Luis Gutierrez Democrat of Illinois will announce and introduce a legislative proposal for unconditional amnesty in order to advance the debate and on this pressing issue.

The intent of The Coordinadora 96-2000 is to take a contingent of representatives of that march in Chicago to be present in Washington D.C to bring equal rights for all immigrants.
In Washington, The Coordinadora 96-2000 will urge President Clinton to promote an executive order to resolve the pending issues of NACARA, Late Amnesty and the restoration of the 245i. The executive order is a power of the President to overcome the insensitive position of the Senate that vote down all the proposals that can provide some justice to the immigrant community.
We invite all this participants that were present at the historical immigrant’s rights March in Chicago to come with us to Washington for this march of equal rights.
