As of 11:30 today (Monday, February 26th), almost all of the workers at Seattle ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now) are on strike as IWW members, demanding recognition for their union.

Their demands include being paid on time and their full paychecks (some have gone over a month without a paycheck), an eight hour day with pay for overtime, the right to have breaks, and a reasonable safety and sexual harassment policy, as well as others.

Please call the ACORN office and request that the Seattle ACORN manager, Doug Bloch, recognize the union and begin negotiating in good faith. As ACORN is a nonprofit with the mission of organizing lower-income people to improve their lives and communities, that is the least that should be expected.

Please call as soon as possible to let him know what you think.
