Day of Silence-Marathon Broadcast to Save Internet Radio

On May 1 WOLF FM and net radio stations from around the globe are joining together to host a 12-hour marathon discussion about the RIAA and CARP's intention to shutdown webcasters.

The RIAA and the Copyright Arbitration Royalty Panel (CARP) want the Library of Congress to impose large fees on webcasters. Imposing fees on webcasters threatens their existence. On May 1 WOLF FM and net radio stations from around the globe are joining together to host a 12-hour marathon discussion about the RIAA and CARP's intention to shutdown webcasters.

"The issues at stake are the free flow of information, music and the concept of Fair Use, all of which are threatened by the expansion of the power of the copyright and the grab for a quick buck," says Ted Coopman of Rouge Communications. "This effects not only webcasters, and musicians who are not at the top of the music biz heap, but is part of a growing push to restrict how individuals in their _own homes_ can use information, including MP3 files."
