EMERGENCY RESPONSE IN EFFECT: WAR BEGINS: Chicago Launches Emergency Anti-War Response

BREAKING NEWS: Corporate news sources reported that the U.S. launched air attacks near Baghdad against what Administration sources are calling a 'target of opportunity' -- likely Iraqi leaders -- at around 8:40 PM Wednesday. The strikes used Tomahawk cruise missiles and bombs dropped from F-117 Nighthawks, the Air Force's stealth fighter-bombers, military officials said. At 9:15 PM, President Bush confirmed that the initial stages of the US war on Iraq had begun.

As part of Chicago's emergency response plan to resist the war, local peace groups are calling for massive anti-war convergences on both Thursday, March 20 and Friday, March 21 at 5:00 PM at the Federal Plaza. The Iraq Peace Pledge will launch a mass CD action at the Federal Building at 8:00 AM on Friday, March 21. Other anti-war groups will conduct protests throughout the city during the day on Thursday.
